Tall Tale Wheels

As we learned about the characters, setting, and plot of tall tales, we made these wheels to display our work. This week we also started to learn how to sequence a story. Check back next week to see our activities with sequencing and finding supporting details! I am so proud of my readers!

Goodies for Grandparents

We had a wonderful time celebrating our grandparents this week! I loved meeting you all! I could tell from all the smiles and hugs that we LOVE our grandparents and they love us!

Chick Fil A Spirit Night

Congratulations to us : )! I am so proud of my sweet cubs for winning the Chick Fil A spirit night award. We get to hang this special wreath on our door to celebrate this month! We won an icecream party and our Jacob was selected in a drawing to win $5 for participating in spirit night. Our next spirit night is next Tuesday, September 13th! I hope to see you there again! Who thinks we can get our entire class to come out and support our school??!

This Week!

This week we will continue learning story elements (characters, setting, and plot) by reading tall tales. Tall tale characters are so much fun and they are so rich in history! I encourage you to take your child to the library and explore tall tales. As they read, discuss the story elements throughout the book. Below are some titles we will be reading.

In math we will be learning to identify and model place value with 3 digit numbers (hundreds, tens, and ones). The chart below also came home on the study guide Friday.

In Social Studies, we will be learning about landforms in our local region and state. Please use the chart below (also on the study guide) to learn the landforms. A big sheet will also be coming home on Tuesday.

Have a wonderful week!

Fables

Next week we will be studying Aesop's fables! Please check out our study guide that came home today. It has a great chart listing the elements of fables. We will be looking at some of the titles below and noticing the problem/solution and plot in the genre. I would love for you to make it to the local library to check out some fables on your own!

Below are some of the titles we may explore this coming week.

Fables are a fun genre and your child will be using them to learn in school for many years to come! Use this chart as a way to familiarize yourself with their elements/characteristics.

Doubles Baby!

We will be practicing this doubles rap to review our doubles facts this week.

Parents, if your child doesn't know these facts, please practice them each and every night! Learning these will make addition easier for them as we move into adding and regrouping 2 digit numbers.
