Adding 3 Digit Numbers with Regrouping

This week in math we have been adding 3 digit numbers with and without regrouping. Everyone has done an excellent job showing their work and explaining why we regroup! It's important for students to know that we regroup because we are swapping out 10 smaller units that equal the same as 1 bigger unit. 10 ones can be exchanged for 1 ten. 10 tens can be exchanged for 1 hundred and so on.

At the beginning of the week we worked with showing models of base ten blocks to visualize how we regroup.

We love doing number talks and teaching one another! We worked on using the stacking strategy and mental math to solve addition story problems today.

These are some interesting videos sharing different strategies to add and regroup.
